Thigh Lift
Sagging of the inner parts of the legs may occur due to reasons such as frequent weight gain and loss, gravity, old age, liposuction procedures performed on the inner parts of the legs with low firmness and high fat accumulation. The procedures of removing this excess skin and fat layer and correcting the inner contour of the leg are called thigh lift operations.
If there is excessive adiposity accompanying sagging in the inner parts of the legs, aggressive liposuction applications may further increase sagging in these cases. As in every operation, it is important to reveal the patient’s expectations correctly in the interview between the patient and the surgeon in thigh lift operations.
How is the operation performed?
Thigh lift is a procedure performed under general anesthesia and in the operating room. After an average of 3-3.5 hours, the patient can be discharged from the hospital the next day. In this operation, excess sagging skin and fat tissues are removed through an incision made on the inner leg. The inner part of the leg is stretched upwards and a straight and taut inner leg is obtained.
What should be considered after the operation?
Patients can bathe 2 days after the operation. After the dressings are renewed on the third day and the scar is checked, the patient can return to normal daily work in the 2nd week. He/she can start climbing stairs. In the first days, activities that put pressure on the wound should be avoided. Strenuous exercise and all kinds of activities are allowed after the 6th week.
What are the scars after the operation?
The incision for the operation starts from the groin line in the front and extends towards the buttocks in the back. After the first 2 weeks, this line, which is red in color, gradually becomes skin-colored and pale. Since the scar will remain inside the panties, it cannot be seen from the outside. It takes 12-18 months for the scar to take its final form.
What are the complications?
In order to prevent undesirable conditions such as malnutrition, dehiscence and infection at the wound site, which we encounter especially in smokers, our patients are advised to quit smoking at least 3 weeks ago. Thigh lift operations are permanent operations like other stretching operations (face, arm, tummy tuck, etc.).
Can the inside of the leg be improved only with liposuction?
It is possible to get results with liposuction in cases of mild adiposity in patients with taut skin, sufficient and active muscle tissue. In addition, in very cellulite and fatty cases, liposuction and then stretching can be applied first to increase the surface of the skin to be removed in stretching operations and to remove more skin. Thus, by emptying the inner part of the bulging skin, sagging is made more prominent and a more effective result can be obtained.
