Eyebrow Surgery

Eyebrow Lift Endoscopic and Suspension Techniques

Brow lift is a very fashionable surgery. According to some, the higher the eyebrows are, the better they look. However, eyebrows with pointed ends are a nightmare for some.
So how should the ideal eyebrow shape be?

WHAT IS THE IDEAL EYEBROW SHAPE?

I think the “classical” knowledge that everyone knows is insufficient. It is insufficient because it is outdated.

If you are curious about the ideal shape of something on the human face, I think you should look at the faces of supermodels. The human face also has a fashion and this fashion comes from the fashion world. These people stand out among tens of thousands of people
in the fiercest competition and their faces are unquestionably ideal.

Look at the eyebrows of supermodels. Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of them are straight, not raised. If you want to see crescent-shaped eyebrows with a raised center, you should look at fashion magazines from the 1950s. Since the 90s, the eyebrow shape has been flat, even straight.

EYEBROW SHAPING METHODS

Eyebrow plucking The most common way of shaping the eyebrows is to pluck them. But the people who do this almost invariably remove all the hairs in the middle of the eyebrows at the lower border and try to give them the crescent shape that was fashionable in the 1950s. I don’t really understand why they do this, and they probably don’t think much about it themselves. However, if they were to look through the magazines in their waiting room, they would see that Kate Moss’s eyebrows are different from the eyebrows they do every day.
My advice to you, no matter how old you are, no matter what kind of face shape you have, do not have your eyebrows done in a 1950 model.

Permanent makeup or “tattooing”: I think this is the only thing done in beauty salons that is truly permanent. I am in favor of all kinds of skin care and treatments, mesotherapies, but I have my doubts about permanent makeup.
First of all, these permanent make-ups will be with you for the rest of your life. It is also very difficult for the shape to be ideal and you have no chance to change it.
Unlike colored tattoos on the arm, these tattoos cannot usually be removed with a laser. They are “erased” with a new skin-colored tattoo, and this “eraser tattoo” appears.

Botox: Botox can shape the eyebrows if used correctly. In my opinion, if you want to change the shape of your eyebrows and you can’t afford surgery, get Botox.

Surgery: Surgery is the most permanent and definitive way to shape eyebrows.

FOR WHOM IS THIS SURGERY PERFORMED?

Brow lift surgery is usually performed on young to middle-aged patients. After the mid-thirties, instead of a brow lift, a more comprehensive intervention such as temple lift, which also aims to rejuvenate the face, is more appropriate.

SURGERY TECHNIQUES?
There are two basic methods: endoscopic and suspension method.
Suspension method: This is a method belonging to our professor Onur Erol. The procedure is extremely simple, a half-centimeter cut is made in the scalp and a long suture passed through here is lowered to the eyebrow and the eyebrow is pulled upwards with this suture.
The best part of the method is that it is extremely simple. I can say that it is almost not an operation. It is an extremely controlled, easy, risk-free and effective method.
The only problem is that the effect lasts very short. Generally, the raised eyebrows return to their original position within a few months to a year.
Endoscopic method: Similar to temple lift surgery, this is performed with a cut of a few centimeters in the scalp. By pulling the eyebrows up from the inside, they can be both lifted and shaped as desired.

Other methods: There are a few more rarely used techniques. In these, a cut is made on the upper eyelid or inside the eyebrow and the eyebrow is hung up. In a very old technique, a long cut is made on the upper border of the eyebrow (I don’t know if anyone still applies it, but I recommend you not to have surgery with this technique, which leaves a lot of scars).
If you ask which is better, my preference is mostly endoscopic.
The fact that the sling method is not long-lasting, sometimes not even lasting for a few months, is also repulsive to many patients.

There are almost no serious complications that may arise in the suspension method. The only problem is asymmetry and the eyebrows going back to their old places in a short time.

Endoscopic technique: There is almost no chance of serious bleeding and infection. Small accumulations of blood (hematoma) are not a serious problem. If there is inflammation, antibiotic treatment may be necessary, and in rare cases surgical drainage of the inflammation may be necessary.
Asymmetry In this surgery, one of the sutures that carries the tissues may cause asymmetry. In this case, this stitch may need to be placed again.
Loss of sensation: In rare cases, there may be loss of sensation at the edges of the eyebrows. However, these will usually disappear after a few weeks. Loss of sensation that lasts for months may be rare, but it will definitely heal in the end.
Hair loss may also be rare. However, the hair will definitely come back.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How will I look after a brow lift?

When applying a technique, it is entirely up to the doctor how to get a result. I think the important thing is not to lift the eyebrows, but to give them a straight and attractive shape.

Is this surgery performed alone?

Yes, it is often done. Some people have drooping eyebrows even at a very young age. It is usually performed together with temple lift surgery over the age of 35. Some facial rejuvenation can be achieved in temple lift surgery.

How many years do these surgeries last?

The eyebrow shape given with the endoscopic technique is permanent. However, as the whole forehead will sag over the years, the eyebrows will come down a little.

TIPS:
If you do not want to have surgery, you can have your eyebrows shaped
only with Botox. Generally, the effect will start to decrease after 3 months and will disappear completely in the sixth month.
– If you are around 35 years old, I recommend temple lift surgery, which is one step above brow lift surgery. This will also open your crow’s feet and shape your mid-face. – If you are over 50, I recommend classical facelift and endoscopic mid-face surgeries. Eyebrow lift methods alone will not work very well.
– If you want a temporary result with the smallest method, the eyebrow suspension technique may be suitable for you. Sometimes the eyebrows hung with this technique keep their shape for up to a year.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AFTER SURGERY:

You can return to work the day after eyebrow lift surgery. The procedure takes half an hour, local anesthesia is sufficient. The procedure can also be performed under office conditions.
Endoscopic technique can
also be performed
with local anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour. One or two days of rest is enough, you do not need to be hospitalized. It is an operation that causes very little swelling and bruising and heals very quickly. If you have surgery on the weekend, you can return to work on Monday.
It is not a painful surgery at all. You will lie with your head upright for the
first few days and apply plenty of ice.

ENDOSCOPIC EYEBROW LIFT SURGERY REPORT:
Type of anesthesia: Local or General.
Where the surgery should be performed: In a hospital operating room with an infrastructure for endoscopic plastic surgery.
Duration of surgery: 1 hour.
Duration of hospitalization: Can be discharged on the same day.
Postoperative pain – discomfort: There may be a slight tingling for a few days. Simple oral painkillers are usually sufficient.
Swelling, bruising: Between 2-3 days, mildly.
Dressing: None.
Stitches: There are metal stitches in the scalp and these are removed after 7 days (removal is not painful).
When you can return to work: 2-3 days.
Sports: After 1 week long walks, after 2 weeks heavy sports can be started.
Final shape: The result is usually visible even in the first few days. However, it takes three months for everything to completely disappear, the tissues to soften and return to normal.
